Vibrant career orientation week for Olympia High School

04 September, 2024

Last week, Olympia High School students participated in numerous exciting and meaningful career orientation activities.
K12 REPORTS ON PERSONAL SUMMER INTERNSHIPS
A unique feature of Olympia's career orientation program over the years has been the summer internships for students transitioning from Grade 11 to 12. Instead of waiting until the third or fourth year of university to participate in official internships, students at this purple school have the opportunity to "work" at businesses while still in high school.
Ninety Olympians, each in a different field, took on roles at various companies, including stock exchange offices, hotels, restaurants, construction companies, and dental institutes. Though the one-month internship period wasn't long, it provided invaluable real-world experience in their chosen professions.
Recently, the K12 students gave presentations on their vibrant summer internships. Through heartfelt presentations and sharing, other Olympians were able to glean useful lessons, gain a deeper understanding of the working world, and clarify their future career choices.
[Career Talk #01] EXPLORING THE MAKEUP ARTISTRY PROFESSION
Kicking off this year’s Career Talk series, which explores the secrets of various professions, was a conversation with makeup artist Nguyễn Anh Bình (Rab Fenty). With 14 years of experience in the industry, having collaborated with numerous major brands and celebrities, Bình provided Olympia High School students with a more tangible insight into the beauty profession, which demands perseverance, meticulousness, and skilled hands. His journey, filled with challenges from passion to becoming a renowned makeup artist, also inspired the students, giving them the confidence to pursue their dreams.
CAREER TREE
Alongside vibrant exchange activities and internships, Olympia High School students also had quiet moments of self-reflection to build their own Career Trees. Each part of this tree represents a personal characteristic, value, quality, strength, weakness, dream, or talent that the students identified in themselves. They also pinpointed the challenges they need to face on their journey to "grow" the tree, seeking solutions and motivation to help them reach their dreams.
There are many more meaningful academic and extracurricular activities awaiting Olympians in the near future. Students, get ready to fully enjoy them. And parents, continue to follow the growth and brilliance of our Olympians this school year!
