[Glocal connect] Grade 9 Olympians and the expert explore the equation of “Energy and sustainable development for the future”
17 October, 2025
It was a morning filled with excitement as Grade 9 Olympians brought along countless questions and creative perspectives to a special class with an environmental expert, diving into the challenges of energy and sustainable development.

The guest speaker in today’s session was Dr. Huynh Tan Loi - Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (Kyoto University, Japan), and a lecturer at Van Lang University. With his approachable style and vivid real-world examples, Dr. Lợi helped Olympians gain a clearer understanding of today’s energy landscape - from current consumption situation and the potential of wind, solar, and nuclear power to the broader challenges of sustainable development in Vietnam and around the world.
Beyond simply absorbing knowledge, Grade 9 Olympians actively asked questions, shared ideas, and connected what they had learned in the “Energy and Sustainable Development” interdisciplinary project. Their lively discussions revealed that “sustainability” is not a distant concept or something found only in textbooks - it is shaped by the choices and actions each individual makes today for the world of tomorrow.

The session may have ended, but the energy for learning and the spirit of exploration continue to flow. The interdisciplinary project “Energy and Sustainable Development” is still underway - stay tuned for more exciting activities and innovative research projects from these young “scientists of the future” – the Grade 9 Olympians!
