"Very impressive," "the school has done an excellent job," "Olympia deserves to be a leading flag in educational innovation" - these are just a few of the many comments shared by thE Professors from the Faculty of Educational Management - University of Education - VNU Hanoi during a recent exchange on "School Curriculum Development" at Olympia.
Throughout the exchange led by senior faculty members from the "purple school," 30 lecturers, PhD candidates, and students from the Faculty of Educational Management eagerly listened and enthusiastically discussed. The "guests" were particularly impressed by how Olympia has developed its school curriculum. According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hong, it is "very authentic, practical, with clear objectives and direction, and includes high standards from both Vietnam and international frameworks for evaluation." He noted that while many schools in Vietnam still face challenges in implementing their curricula, especially in subjects like Natural Sciences and History-Geography, Olympia has done an excellent job. Even the experiential learning programs, which are often difficult to execute, have been well-organized at the "purple school" in a meaningful, practical, and effective way, with clear, methodical plans and specific evaluations.
Pointing out four "extremely impressive" aspects of Olympia's curriculum, Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Van Minh, a senior lecturer at the University of Education, affirmed: "Olympia deserves to be the leading flag in educational innovation."
"I feel like I’ve been listening to experts, and I want to reiterate a few things I've read in global educational literature. For the new education system to succeed, we must abandon certain old viewpoints. First, students are not the only entity in a school, but each is a unique individual with their own personality and potential. This is incredibly profound, and I see that teachers have done an excellent job of reflecting this through the school's activities.
Second, knowledge comes from everywhere, and teachers are not the sole source of it; students need to actively acquire it themselves. I was extremely impressed by the teachers' sharing of how the school operates.
Third, schools are not the only place to educate children. 'It takes a village to raise a child'... I clearly felt this when I learned that Olympia has garnered great cooperation and consensus from parents and other stakeholders in its activities.
Fourth, educational methods and teaching formats are not fixed; they are constantly evolving. Olympia has done a great job in this aspect. Additionally, subjects are not the only isolated components for students to absorb knowledge. Therefore, the integration and cross-disciplinary approach at Olympia have been effectively and meticulously implemented.
Lastly, Vietnam is not the only place where our students can grow and thrive. Olympia has already produced many global citizens, both domestically and internationally," shared Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Van Minh.
We sincerely thank the faculty of the Faculty of Educational Management - University of Education for their positive feedback on Olympia. The teachers and students of the "purple school" will continue striving to enhance and improve the activities the school is pursuing.
