Olympians high school students compete in entrepreneurship to win a ticket to Japan for the “Company of the year” competition
20 October, 2024
Company of the Year is a prestigious and long-standing global business skills competition, attracting millions of participants from dozens of countries each year. In this competition, students take on the role of young entrepreneurs, presenting business ideas for products or services aimed at solving social issues.
During the preliminary round, numerous Olympians from grades 9 to 12 showcased their talent and creativity in their business ideas. The top four teams earned the opportunity to advance to the national qualifiers, where they presented their plans before a panel of judges.
Drawing on knowledge from the Economics & Law subject and the specialized entrepreneurship training program - JA Company Program, the four teams from Olympian High School presented innovative business ideas accompanied by meticulously prepared plans. All of the teams' products focused on a circular and sustainable economy. One team developed an AI-powered application to design personalized learning pathways for each customer, another produced footwear from plastic waste, and others created organic cleaning products and recycled streetwear. The creativity of their products, along with confident and persuasive presentations – including target market analysis, production processes, marketing plans, and fundraising strategies – received positive feedback from the judges. The teams were also given advice to further refine their business plans to bring their ideas to life.
After much deliberation to select the deserving candidates for the international round, two teams were announced:
Team MareaVerde with the project “Natural and sustainable laundry detergent,” consisting of students: Le Linh Chi, Nguyen An Khanh, Phan Vu Nhat Anh, and Le Lam Giang (10th grade).
Team Ô mai Club with the project “Recycled & Thrift streetwear,” consisting of students: Pham Duy Long, Nguyen Duc Minh, Mai Thuc Quyen, and Diep Linh Anh (10th grade).
This coming March, the two Olympia teams will represent Vietnam in Japan to compete with international peers. But from now until then, they will need to bring their business plans to life. This is a fantastic opportunity for the Olympians to gain hands-on experience in the market. They will need to find investors, manufacturers, and distributors, practice sales, and manage finances with oversight from auditors. A detailed and practical business report will be the competitive product that the Olympians bring to the prestigious global startup competition - Company of the Year 2025.
Once again, congratulations to the competing teams for their exciting experiences. We hope that the products from your business ideas will soon be widely available on the market and that you will achieve well-deserved success in the international competition.
