The questions that guide Olympians on their journey of nurturing Vietnamese identity

[Series: Growing Up with Vietnamese Identity]
At Olympia, the journey of nurturing Vietnamese identity does not begin with grand concepts, but with questions that feel close and personal: What is Vietnamese identity? Who am I within my cultural roots? How do we understand and express the past in ways that connect to the present and shape the future?

These questions are not raised simply to be answered - and they have no single, fixed response. They are planted early, revisited, expanded, and deepened over time, accompanying Olympians through each year and every stage of learning. Students grow up with questions about their roots, culture, and heritage; they learn to look at familiar things with fresh eyes, and to see themselves as those who continue the story - not only preserving existing values, but finding ways for Vietnamese identity to remain alive and meaningful in today’s world.
These questions unfold in classrooms and learning spaces, across subjects, through field trips, conversations with experts, and hands-on learning projects. When students ask themselves, “Why should Vietnamese identity be preserved? How can it be sustained? What part of Vietnam do I carry with me into the world?”, they are also shaping the mindset, attitudes, and sense of responsibility of globally competent citizens with strong roots. Because identity is not only about knowing who we are, but also about becoming who we choose to be.
And at Olympia, the journey of growing up with Vietnamese identity always begins with the courage to ask - and continues as Olympians gradually discover their own answers through experience, independent thinking, and conscious choices in an open, interconnected world.
