3 core components of IB-DP program

With the goal of creating a comprehensive educational learning environment where students can effectively apply their knowledge and skills to real-life situations, the IB – DP High School Diploma program is built on the foundation of six optional subject groups and three mandatory subjects: Theory of knowledge (TOK), Extended essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS). These are also three core components that students must complete when following IB-DP at Grade 11 and 12 in order to receive an IB Diploma when they graduate.
Three core sujects of IB-DP is:
Theory of knowledge (TOK): This subject revolves around the central question: "How do we know what we know?", helping students learn about the nature of knowledge, thereby formalizing students’ critical thinking skill and open-minded approach to diverse their perspectives and different cultures.
Extended essay (EE): This subject requires learners to conduct personal research with a length of up to 4000 words. Thereby, students will be trained in complex competencies and skills such as: searching, comparing, contrasting and synthesizing information, organizing and defending arguments in a scientific way, etc. for their learning process at the university level.
Creativity, activity, service (CAS): This course requires students to complete extracurricular activities and community projects. This is a golden opportunity for learners to discover and develop their own potential as well as hone practical skills such as planning, decision making, teamwork, etc.
These 3 subjects are implemented by a team of experienced teachers, 100% of whom have had IB teaching certificates and 70% of them have had Master - PhD degrees from International Universities. Moreover, the IB - DP program at The Olympia Schools is also built with a variety of cultural exchange activities and experiential programs with international schools. Additionally, students have chances to do copyright book translation projects, experience and solve real business problems. In Grade 10 DP Foundation at Olympia, teachers have organized 3 instruction classes about these core components in order to help students to have a thorough preparation to meet the mandatory requirements in Grade 11 and Grade 12 DP.

Olympia was honored to be the first Vietnamese Bilingual School recognized by the IB Organization as an IB World School in 2022 to deploy the IB program. Students can join the DP Foundation program at Olympia from Grade 10 to familiarize themselves with teaching and prepare crucial skills for highly academic requirements in IB program.
