Preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity is one of the educational pillars at Olympia. Throughout the years and across different grade levels, Olympians are immersed in various activities that help them explore, discover, and experience traditional culture in ways that are age-appropriate and aligned with their interests.
As the children eagerly await the Mid-Autumn Festival, teachers have organized the interdisciplinary learning project "Full Moon Workshop" to help Grade 1 Olympians gain a deeper understanding of this traditional festival. In this project, through subjects like LiFE, Art, English, and Science, the students will explore the origins and typical activities of the Mid-Autumn Festival, identify materials used to make lanterns, create handmade lanterns inspired by Đông Hồ paintings, and present their creations in English.
After a few in-class lessons, the Grade 1 Olympians recently had an experiential learning trip to the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. This journey through time, exploring the nation's art heritage from traditional to modern, and getting hands-on experience with printing Đông Hồ paintings, gave them a clearer and more practical understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Next, the Grade 1 Olympians will complete their project work to showcase and present during the end-of-year exhibition. But even now, they can already share many interesting stories about the Mid-Autumn Festival with their parents. Parents, join the Olympians in discovering and experiencing both traditional and modern aspects of the Mid-Autumn Festival! And now, let’s look at some adorable moments from their trip to the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum!
