17 January, 2026

At Olympia, learning has never been confined to textbooks or classrooms. It is continuously expanded through real-world experiences. From their Grade 9 History lessons, Olympians stepped into the space of the Hỏa Lò Prison Relic, drawing closer to the marks of the past and gaining a deeper understanding of the value of peace and freedom today.

Once one of the largest prisons in Indochina in the late 19th and early 20th century, Hỏa Lò Prison preserves the imprint of a challenging yet resilient chapter in the nation’s history. Through exhibition spaces, artifacts, and archival materials, stories of the past are vividly recreated, becoming more tangible and relatable for students.

Listening attentively to the guide, observing, and taking notes, Olympians K9 approached the site not only with a serious learning mindset but also with a sense of gratitude for the sacrifices of previous generations. Every note taken and every detail recorded carried deep respect for the values that have shaped the peaceful life we enjoy today.

Through these firsthand experiences, History lessons became richer and more meaningful. No longer limited to rigid timelines, stories of the past were felt through space, images, and emotions - helping Olympians better appreciate the true value of peace and freedom in contemporary life.

The learning experience at Hỏa Lò therefore went beyond knowledge acquisition. It sparked emotions, fostered respect for the past, and nurtured a sense of responsibility to preserve and carry forward those values in today’s generation. This is also how Olympia walks alongside young learners - so that through each learning experience, they grow in understanding and appreciation, take pride in the historical, cultural, and Vietnamese identity they carry, and move forward with confidence on their journey of growth and global integration.
