Olympians International Diploma Program 2021-2025 has a wonderful parents association
03 July, 2024
These are the words of Mr. Nguyen Duc To Luu - the parent of Olympian Nguyen Như Xuan - a member of the copyrighted book translation and publishing project “Taking Flight.” This is a project of the Olympians of the International Diploma Program (IDP) for the 2021-2025 school year. Mr. To Luu is also the person in charge of layout and editing the printed version of “Taking Flight” accompanying Như Xuân and 20 other "young translators" in the project until the book was published.
"The way that parents accompanied has significantly contributed to the students' maturity, strengthened the unity among their classmates, and provided them with beautiful memories during their school years," Mr. Luu also shared.
At Olympia, it is not difficult to name activities that involve parents’ support. In this “Taking Flight " project, parents also participated in supporting the students from the very first days. "To support the students' book translation project, right from the beginning, the parents set up a separated group chat. From copyright contact, layout to printing, etc., there is always parents’ support. Parents do not intervene deeply in the learning of their children and teachers, but are always ready to be there for their children and teachers when necessary," Mr. Luu recalled.
This is also an opportunity for parents and children to bond and learn about the school's activities. Understanding the psychology of high school students, Ms. Dao To Cam - a parent of the project leader, Le To Thi, chose to silently follow her child's growth. "If we intervene too deeply, the children will not like it either. At this age, children also want to express their abilities. But I still ask and am ready to advise when the children need it. I want the children to experience themselves to have memorable lessons for themselves. This must first come from the school when it has chosen suitable experiential activities for the children."
“Taking Flight” is not only a journey of maturity for the children but also a journey of companionship with their parents. Through this project, it is hoped that parents have had the opportunity to share, listen to and understand the thoughts and dreams of their children. From there, the children will be assured of having their parents' companionship to confidently conquer new milestones in the future.
