Phan Trong Duy successfully conquered the top 4 universities in the US

"Good mindset", "personality", "especially passionate about sports," are a few phrases that many teachers at Olympia use to describe Phan Trong Duy - a 12th
-grade Olympian who has successfully gained admission to 4 prestigious universities in the United States: Pennsylvania State University-University Park, ranked #60 in the US, according to USNews 2024; Michigan State University, #60; Indiana University-Bloomington, #73; Drexel University, #98, with a scholarship of $76,800.

Among these universities, Trong Duy will choose Drexel University because of its Co-op (Cooperative Education) program, which combines classroom learning with internships at top-rated businesses in the US. Planning to major in Finance, the Olympian believes that Drexel University will provide an ideal environment for both academic knowledge and professional experience.

Phan Trong Duy's journey of preparing for studying abroad began in the summer of 10th grade, receiving support and guidance from family and the UCC office. Despite not having significant advantages in academic scores, Phan Trong Duy chose to "shine" in his study abroad application by writing an essay that clearly expressed his personality, perspective, and passion for sports. The theme he explored was how to interact and adapt to people with different personalities, a valuable lesson he learned from his father. Applying this approach, Duy became more connected with his friends in Olympia men's soccer team, which he joined in 11th grade.

"In a team, there always needs to be someone with a voice and leadership to help others progress; Phan Trong Duy is such a friend. Duy has a great aptitude for sports, he is diligent, and he puts effort into every training session. Sometimes, he can be quite humorous, capable of motivating others to compete, but there are also times when Duy is very serious, straightforwardly pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of each member. Playing in the midfield and serving as a bridge between lines and team members, Trong Duy is a crucial player who rarely sits on the bench," shared Mai Xuan Linh, the head of Olympia soccer team.

Passionate about sports since childhood, Phan Trong Duy is extremely happy that in his 12 years at Olympia, he has been able to fulfill his passion for personal development. The school offers a variety of Physical Education courses such as swimming, soccer, basketball, volleyball, along with "super strong" sports clubs that allow students to compete in many places and achieve impressive results.

As a member of the basketball club from 1st grade to 10th grade and a center-back for the Olympia soccer team, Phan Trong Duy once co-organized a tennis tournament for Hanoi students. "Although it was a small tournament, I was deeply involved, and I think what makes up my 'brand' is sports. I am very grateful to Olympia for providing me with many opportunities to develop myself according to what I desire. For me, Olympia is home, a place that has given me many beautiful memories, and wherever I go, I will always remember it," shared Olympian Phan Trong Duy.
