The journey of daily self-improvement to realize the dream of traveling the world: Le Ba Nguyen Dang
12 August, 2024
The story of Le Ba Nguyen Dang, a particularly remarkable student, is one of the many sweet, profound memories - sometimes even tearful - that many teachers at Dream House - Olympia will never forget. From a boy who struggled with innate hearing difficulties, Nguyen Dang has transformed into a tall, handsome, and confident young man, unafraid to conquer the “mountains” he dreams of. Recently, this Olympian officially became a student in the Tourism and Hospitality Management program at BUV University. With the knowledge and experiences gained from this institution, Nguyen Dang hopes to work at a major international hotel and fulfill his dream of traveling the world.
Looking back on many years ago, Nguyen Dang recalls how, when he was grappling with his studies and communication, the teachers at Dream House preschool supported and cared for him with great dedication. From first grade at Olympia through to the end of 12th grade, he continued to receive immense care, affection, and support from his teachers, friends, and staff, helping him overcome his own barriers step by step. "At Olympia, I never felt different. Everyone treated me well and equally. The teachers, friends, and staff at school always loved, respected, trusted, and allowed me to do many things. It was like being in a safe and happy home. And Olympia truly is my second home," the Olympian shared.
But Olympia offered more than just love from a school built by mothers. Under the purple roof, the boy who struggled with hearing, Le Ba Nguyen Dang, discovered his potential in swimming, basketball, volleyball, literature, and mathematics; he found motivation, passion, and self-belief to persevere through challenges. He has earned numerous accolades such as "Excellent Student," "Outstanding Student," and "Most Improved Student" in several subjects, as well as being recognized monthly. He participated in 11 Half Marathon races (21 km) and several Triathlon competitions that combine swimming, cycling, and running, both in Vietnam and internationally. Additionally, he was an active member of the basketball and volleyball clubs and a passionate supporter in many seasons of Olympia Sport Week.
Even though he was eligible for an exemption from the National High School Graduation Exam, Nguyen Dang, wanting to experience this significant event like his peers, studied diligently and ultimately scored 45.1 points across six subjects.
"Nguyen Dang truly deserves to be an ambassador of the value of dedication at Olympia. Throughout his years here, he has always been ready to support his teachers and peers in every group activity within his grade and the school. He is responsible, always completes his assignments, and proactively seeks help from teachers when facing challenges. I wish my young man continued confidence and boundless energy for the journey ahead," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh, Chief Advisor of Grade 12. And this is also Olympia’s message to Nguyen Dang: "The Purple School" will always be home - a place to support, protect, and be a stronghold whenever you need it.
