School Counselor (Career Counseling Focus)

Job Summary:

 

The School Counselor (Career Counseling Focus) will be responsible for providing comprehensive career counseling services to students, including individual and group counseling, career assessments, and classroom guidance lessons. The counselor will also provide mental health counseling services to students, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation. The counselor will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students' career development and mental health. Additionally, the counselor will organize career-related activities, such as career fairs, job shadowing, and internships, to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to various career paths.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to help them explore career options, develop career plans, and make informed decisions about their future.
  • Administer and interpret career assessments to help students identify their interests, strengths, and values related to career development.
  • Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons on career exploration, job search strategies, and career readiness skills.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to help them manage emotional and social challenges, develop coping skills, and improve their mental health.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families in times of emergency or trauma.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and address students' mental health needs.
  • Organize career-related activities, such as career fairs, job shadowing, and internships, to provide students with hands-on experience and exposure to various career paths.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records related to career counseling and mental health counseling services.
  • Stay current with career development trends, resources, and technology.
  • Stay current with mental health trends, resources, and technology.
  • Participate in professional development activities related to career counseling and mental health counseling.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with students and teachers from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Proficiency in using student information systems and college application platforms

Expected Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in school counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of experience in career counseling or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in mental health counseling or a related field.
  • Experience organizing career-related activities.
  • Experience working in an international school setting preferred.
