To receive teaching certification of Diploma Program (DP) - one of 4 International Baccalaureate® (IB) programs, specialized for students in grade 11 and 12 in The Olympia Schools, the teacher must not only meet the academic and English qualification, but also pass the training programs by IB experts. Ms. Shannon Koga – Head of Schools with more than 30 years' experience in the teaching field – is the leader of the IB teachers and in charge of the subject Creative, Activity, and Service (CAS).
Ms. Thao Nguyen Kim Nu - Ph.D in Biotechnology in America and won a prize in The International Biology Olympiad in Belgium is so excited to become an IB teacher here. “To play a role as a teacher and a researcher, my happiness is to share inspiration, knowledge and self-learning skills to students. Besides, Olympia maximized favorable conditions for practicing through experiments, which makes teaching activities more interesting and effective,” she said. Dr. Thao also comments that the IB program is a challenging but worthy one.
Being of the same mind, Mr. Jonathan, an international teacher graduating from LCC International University, with more than 6 years’ teaching experience believes that DP foundation program stands students in good stead for their future studies in university. It teaches them the value of interdisciplinary learning and gives them a valuable understanding of conducting independent inquiries.
