Olympia - A place of belonging

10 January, 2024

Within each of us resides a dream. Yet, it is also imperative to have a place to return to amidst the weariness and tumultuous concerns of life, a place that fuels our unwavering devotion to that very passion. This place may be the familiar place we call home, a refuge we perceive as serene. However, within me, Olympia is that realm of tranquility, where I devote a significant portion of my time, a place that nurtures and kindles the flame within me...

Though the saying "School is a second home" may sound clinché for some people, still, I use it to depict Olympia, for, to me, Olympia is indeed a home. The Olympia school, throughout two decades, has fostered and enlightened numerous generations, propelling countless dreams to take flight. Since 2003, with a mission focused on the future generation, crafting an educational environment abundant in challenges, and fostering the virtues of its students,

Olympia has harvested numerous triumphs across diverse domains. As for myself, an individual who harbors no fascination or profound ardor for the realm of academia, I still yearn to go to school every day. Perhaps, it is because Olympia is beyond a place to pursue knowledge. Olympia has taught me more than anything I could have learned from books. Here, I have learned the art of respect and empathy, as well as the essence of unity. I have gained companions who are supportive and wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to one another. I have teachers who give their all, empathize, and share with us.

These are cherished memories that I shall never forget. A place where I feel peaceful, where I am confident in being myself, where I am free to explore and express myself without constraints. It is a place where I can cry, laugh, and live to the fullest, accumulating experiences and knowledge to improve myself every day.

"MEMORABLE PLACES...

It might seem unusual for this mirror to be mentioned first, as it is simply a reflective glass positioned at the two stairwells on the first floor, yet its simplicity makes it truly special. Whenever I pass by this mirror, even if time is running out, I find myself pausing here. It could be adjusting my hair, clothes, engaging in playful moments, performing peculiar actions that make us burst into laughter, or, more notably, capturing pictures to preserve memories. Not only for me but for many other Olympians, this mirror is like a "signature" of the school – a must-visit spot on the first floor!

The "special" class of our beloved teacher, Mrs. Huong, with all female students. A class where quiet moments were rare, especially the memorable times in the gym filled with laughter. The smell of the rubber mat, initially unpleasant, became familiar. The sweaty physical workouts or just sitting together sharing stories about life – all these moments weave beautiful memories of the brightest years of my high school life.

WHAT OLYMPIA HAS GIVEN ME...

As part of the K22-25 cohort, with the slogan "ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE," you always supported each other in everything, ensuring no one was left behind. The unity of the cohort was exceptional, making it the most tightly-knit group in the school. You all are an unforgettable part of my youth, individuals I deeply admire.

The teachers, who always dedicated themselves to the students, were not just educators but also companions throughout those years. They tirelessly guided and shared not only academic challenges but also life issues. These educators played a vital role in shaping dreams and the bright, hopeful future of many generations.

Friends who were always there, accepting each other's imperfections, facing mistakes together, and growing together. Friends are powerful influencers in my life, with some coming and going, but those who stayed accepted me, changed with me, and shared joys and sorrows genuinely. These are the people I genuinely cherish.

To Hà Doanh Doanh, you are not particularly outstanding or extraordinary, just simply yourself. A person who always listens, someone I trust, and is always open-hearted. Even if we don't talk for a long time, we know that we will always be there for each other when needed. Our most memorable moment might be hugging each other, shedding tears in the park, looking strange but treasuring that moment when two kids with hidden burdens shared their hearts, deepening our trust and friendship. I truly want to thank Olympia for giving me such a friend, not a best friend yet, but someone I secretly consider as a best friend, the most valued.

In conclusion, I hope to convey my wishes to the school, wishing Olympia, whether it's 20, 40, or even 100 years old, to remain the same – carrying the mission of nurturing individuals and cultivating the future. Though my time at the school may not have been long, I genuinely appreciate every moment here, every event, and every emotion. I hope that the teachers, friends, and everyone studying or working at Olympia will stay healthy and joyful to fulfill their missions and purposes when being a part of this place. Happy 20th birthday, Olympia, may your radiance continue to shine."
