Olympians and LearnThrive inspire effective self-learning through science and practice

10 January, 2024

The project intends to introduce efficient self-learning techniques and free educational materials to Vietnam for the first time.

- The project has received sponsorship from reputable organizations and guidance from education experts.

- It has successfully implemented 4 open classes applying scientifically-based learning tools right at Olympia. Nguyen Trang Linh, an 11QT Olympian, founded the LearnThrive project, which is carried out in collaboration with a group of fellow Olympians from the International diploma program and the International Baccalaureate (IB). The mission of LearnThrive is to support effective self-learning among students nationwide, encouraging a culture of inquiry and knowledge acquisition.

There are currently close to sixty participants in the project, in addition to Olympia members. The members of the project come from different countries as well as different provinces in Vietnam, which makes them interesting.

- The success of the LearnThrive is attributed to the efforts of key members such as:

▪️ General coordination: Quynh Anh ️

▪️ Head of design committee: Olympian Nhu Xuan, Duy An (11QT)

▪️ Head of HR committee: Ha Thu

▪️ Alongside active members Dang Khanh Linh (11IB), Vu Bao Anh (11H), and other Olympians from grades 9 to 11.

The demand for self-learning abilities in modern education today serves as inspiration for Trang Linh and the members to further develop and expand the project. LearnThrive has received support from the school's specialized departments and various teachers and advisors. The project is also sponsored by The Vietnam Foundation (Khan Academy Vietnam) and YBOX Vietnam.

Members of LearnThrive project

"At first, the project has been successful in encouraging a self-learning mindset among participants by having sharing sessions at schools. “I've discovered a more efficient way to study the humanities through neuroscience, by comprehending how our brains function after taking part in LearnThrive's open course. We have been exposed to extremely effective learning strategies through the project, which have tremendously aided us in understanding the lectures in class and in our own self-study. It has been a happy and helpful experience, and I have no doubt that learning will now be much easier and more interesting. Olympian Le Do Tue Minh, Olympian (9H) is sharing this after competing”.

With their own academic success and a desire to spread positive values to the community, Trang Linh and the Olympians team are making every effort to expand the scope of accessible learning materials to high school students not only in Vietnam but also in other countries. In the near future, the Olympians will be offering additional free online classes on the Zoom platform alongside in-person classes as before. Specifically, at the end of this month, the project will have two sharing sessions on the topic of "self-learning for busy individuals."

Let's cheer on and follow the positive changes that LearnThrive and the Olympians will bring to the student community in the coming time.
